Beyond the Prompt: Building AI Tools That Actually Do the Work

Most people have used AI to draft an email. Far fewer have built something that does real work for them. In this session Julian Moore builds a working AI tool from scratch, live, in front of you. Starting from a single association event brief, he'll create a tool that drafts a strong RFP, assesses destination and venue responses against the association's requirements, flags the gaps and the questions nobody has asked yet, and supports the early stages of destination selection. You'll see how it's built, how it performs, and where it falls over. Most importantly, you'll see how you could build something similar yourself - without a developer, a budget line, or a six-month project.

By the end of this session you will:

  • Understand the difference between prompting AI and building a tool that does a job repeatedly
  • See a practical AI workflow for event RFPs and destination selection, built end to end
  • Know which parts of your own work are good candidates for this approach - and which are not
  • Have a clear first step for building your own tool after the session

Strategic Membership Solutions

Chief Sustainability Officer, GreenSphere Global

Julian Moore is one of Australasia's leading experts in the practical application of AI across corporates, government, and associations.

Known for his engaging, story-driven keynotes featuring trademark live demonstrations - where AI tools are built in front of the audience - Julian helps organisations embed AI into their operations, customer and member engagement, and new revenue streams. Beyond the stage, Julian works directly with leadership teams as Chief AI Consultant at Strategic Membership Solutions, guiding organisations through the practical realities of adopting AI - from identifying the right opportunities to building the skills and confidence to act on them. His focus is always on what works in practice, not theory, and audiences consistently leave his sessions with tools and ideas they can apply immediately.
